Where the nick comes from

“We need a way to keep the word, so that it speaks even in our absence. ”

The intent of King Ibrahim Njoya, as told by the Bamum chronicle

Around 1896, King Njoya invented a script for his people. In 1918, he had copper type cast to print it. The “i” in our logo is one of those characters, with its nick, the notch that guides the typesetter's hand. We do the same work: keeping what matters.

Two banks, one thread.

Indaprint takes its letters from the West and its home from the coast. Two heritages, one conviction: what matters must be passed on to everyone.

The western bank · Foumban

The sign.

Around 1896, King Njoya invented a script for his people. In 1918, he had copper type cast to print it. Our “i” is one of those characters, with its nick.

The ndop cloth of the West, indigo passed from hand to hand, gave us our patterns and our way of working.

The Wouri bank · Douala

The place.

Every year, at the Ngondo, the Sawa peoples gather on the banks of the Wouri to receive a message and proclaim it to the whole community. The Ngondo has been on UNESCO's list of the intangible heritage of humanity since 2024. This is where we work, in Ndokoti.

The racing canoes of the Ngondo carry a carved tangué at their prow, the emblem of honour of the riverbanks. Our line of water pays tribute to it without copying it. And as early as 1872, a whole Bible was printed in the Duala language.

Phones scatter. Paper gathers, from one bank to the other.

The studio, before the press.

Every Indaprint piece first goes through a designer's hands. That is where it is decided whether people will keep it.

  • Art directionOne mood, one palette, two typefaces at most, kept across every piece of an event.
  • Retouching and restorationPhone photos, damaged prints, old portraits: cleaned, recropped, enlarged without losing the grain.
  • Typography and layoutGrid, hierarchy, drop caps, notes: the page reads effortlessly, like a real book.
  • Writing and proofreadingWe write tributes, biographies and management letters with you, then proofread everything.
  • Press-ready filesPDFs to printer standards, bleed, checked colours. Delivered on their own if you already have a printer.

Three papers, no more.

I live abroad. Can I order for my family?

Yes. You talk to us on WhatsApp, approve the proof remotely and pay by Mobile Money, bank transfer or card. We deliver to your family in Douala or hand the order to the carrier for the village.

How long does an order take?

Your first proof arrives within 48 hours, or 72 hours for a multi-page document: book, booklet, programme, report. Once you approve it, we print and deliver in Douala within 48 hours. Turnaround is counted in working days, from receipt of your texts, photos and deposit. With express (+30%), the proof arrives within 24 hours. Hardcover binding, hot-foil, textiles and runs over 500 copies: timing is set in the quote.

My photos are old or poor quality.

Photo restoration and enlargement are included in our designs. If a photo is still too weak for print, we tell you on the proof, before printing.

Why a minimum of 100 copies?

Because a booklet or announcement that runs out on the day can't be made up for. At funerals and weddings alike, attendance almost always exceeds expectations. And below 100 copies, press setup weighs so heavily that each piece costs almost twice as much. We prefer the right print run and real paper. Banners, portraits, roll-ups, T-shirts and La Une magazine are not affected.
